Need to capture your screen on Windows 10? Whether you’re saving an error message, grabbing part of a webpage, or capturing the entire screen — this guide walks you through the easiest and most effective ways.

🖼 Method 1: Snip & Sketch (Modern & Flexible)

  1. Press Windows Key + Shift + S
  2. Your screen will dim and a capture toolbar will appear.
  3. Choose from:
  • Rectangular Snip
  • Freeform Snip
  • Window Snip
  • Fullscreen Snip
  1. The screenshot is copied to your clipboard.
  2. Click the notification popup to edit and save the snip.

💡 Tip: You can pin Snip & Sketch to your taskbar for faster access.

⌨️ Method 2: Print Screen + Paste

  • Press PrtScn to capture your entire screen.
  • Open Paint, Word, or another image editor.
  • Press Ctrl + V to paste.
  • Save the file as a PNG or JPG.

❗ This method copies the screen to your clipboard only — you must paste and save it manually.

💾 Method 3: Windows + PrtScn (Save Screenshot Automatically)

  • Press Windows Key + PrtScn
  • Your screen will dim briefly to confirm capture.
  • The screenshot is saved to:
    C:\Users\[YourName]\Pictures\Screenshots

  • This copies only the currently active window to the clipboard.
